Mobility Pricing Stakeholder Forum - Nov.22

Below is a message from our friend Marty Collier at Healthy Transport Consulting.

Another summer has flown by and now some of us are preparing to vote in our third election in the last year.  Unfortunately, other than a few words about transit, provincial candidates in Ontario are not saying much about the billions that traffic congestion is costing the economy and the billions needed to pay for the existing system, let alone expansion.  Meanwhile, Metrolinx issued an RFP for an “economics study” in July and Toronto Council just voted against a Gardiner/DVP road pricing study.

So the time is exactly right to invite you to attend the Transport Futures “Mobility Pricing Stakeholder Forum” in Toronto on November 22nd.  As detailed in our   exciting agenda  , this interactive learning event will build on our previous five conferences by hearing public acceptance perspectives directly from business, public interest groups and the media.  These stakeholders and policy influencers – as well as over 100 delegates -- will be assisted by preeminent European and Canadian experts who have researched and “seen it all” when it comes to road pricing, parking fees and gas tax policy.  Ourconfirmed speakers include:
  • Kurt Van Dender, Chief Economist, International Transport Forum at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD)
  • Jens Schade, Associate Professor, Dresden University of Technology
  • David Hill, Senior Project Manager, National Practice Leader, Parking Solutions, MMM Group
  • Teresa Di Felice, Director of Government & Community Relations, CAA South Central Ontario
  • Royson James, Columnist, The Toronto Star
  • Richard Joy, Vice President, Policy & Government Relations, Toronto Board of Trade
  • Gregory Thomas, Federal/Ontario Director, Canadian Taxpayers Federation
As a Transport Futures participant, you will have ample time to engage with speakers and other delegates.  Proceedings will be captured in order to create a 3-pronged educational/social outreach strategy that explicitly explains costs and benefits for government, business and the general public.   This mobility pricing strategy will be used as the basis for a series of community workshops across the Greater Toronto Area in 2012.

Seating is limited. Please register today to take advantage of our Early Bird Rates.
Visit our website or email info@transportfutures.ca for more details.

Don’t miss this valuable opportunity to learn the latest in mobility pricing best practices and how we can work together to implement them in Ontario!

Thanks very much, and I look forward to welcoming you to Transport Futures on November 22nd!

Sincerely,
Martin Collier
